Invisalign vs. ClearCorrect

What’s the Difference?

Invisalign and ClearCorrect are both treatments that use clear plastic aligners to gently shift the position of your teeth. Primarily, the difference lies in the types of plastic used and the cost of treatment. Invisalign usually uses a thicker, more durable plastic compared to ClearCorrect. At Three Notch Dental, Invisalign is our preferred provider of clear aligner orthodontics due to their superior track record, excellent service, and strong, durable proprietary plastic materials.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Understanding The Basics

Instead of using brackets, wires, and rubber bands to move your teeth, Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners, which look a lot like a retainer or a night guard. These aligners are built to gently shift your teeth and improve their spacing, alignment, and position.

The process begins with a consultation with Dr. Seisman. Once you are approved, our team will work with Invisalign to develop your personalized treatment plan. You’ll come back in 4-6 weeks to get your first several sets of aligners. Treatment involves wearing your aligners every day, removing them only to brush and floss, and only drinking water while they are in your mouth. You will typically will switch to a new set of aligners about every 2 weeks, and come into our office every 6 weeks to get your next several sets of aligners. At this time you will also get a brief checkup to ensure your treatment is progressing properly.

How to Wear Aligners

Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners are removable. This means you must be diligent about wearing your aligners. For optimal results, you should wear your aligners for at least 20 hours per day, but 22+ hours per day is ideal. If you do not wear your aligners as much as possible, your treatment will begin to fall behind. This will cost you additional time and money, so make sure you’re wearing your aligners for the recommended amount of time per day.

How Long Will Treatment Take?

Invisalign Treatment Times

This is highly dependent on the needs of each Invisalign patient and how well you adhere to your treatment plan. However, the average Invisalign treatment usually takes between 20-24 sets of aligners. Each set is usually worn for 2 weeks, so most patients get results in about a year.
